What a 2017!! It was insanely busy but full of insight and reflection! It was a struggle with playing so many roles this year as a wife, mother, educator, daughter, sister, aunt, organizer, art activist, art advocate and much more! I was spread between so many moments, obligations, duties and it’s not stopping anytime soon! So if I didn’t see you this year just know that I missed you from afar and I hope to remedy some missed meet ups in 2018! But I will say that God is good and he continues to keep me whole and I have my family and husband @secondkoan to thank for that! This whirlwind of a year included speaking on designing justice @lightcitybmore @labsatlightcity Organizing and Hosting artist talk & zine workshop with legendary Artist, Designer, Former Minister of Culture for the Black Panthers, Emory Douglas at @bowiestateuniversity with @8704media @beatofblossoms Jamila Zahra Felton and @aigabaltimore AIGA Baltimore & @aigadc AIGA DC hung out Harvard University @gsdaasu @____harvardgsd___ for the Black In Design Conference with some of my favorite people and black designers @hadiyawilliams @jtbeezwax @dianholton @antionettecarroll and my BSU Design Students! @akeydrug @dbr______ @arthurthe3rd @tuckshootitall Had some serious heart to heart convos on my role as an educator with @magentaprints Jacinda Walker collaborated with my amazing BSU faculty @sustainable_humans_being Gina Marie Lewis and the University of MD Megan Pagado Wells @andmegansaid to create a unity mural! Got big things coming with BSU faculty Art Vidrine too! My Uncle turned 90 and my Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 Family Sara Torres-White @czmontero @__brittknee Nyurka Ruiz, Julia Torres, Laura Torres Santiago, Cuco J Rivera, Niecy Chi Chi Torres, had a huge family reunion in Florida! Knox took his first flight, turned 5, lost his first tooth and visited a ton of museums this year! And by the Grace of God I continued a sweet teaching gig at Bowie State University to feed my baby that looks nothing like me but instead is an exact replica of the handsome Kevin Johnson Jr. @secondkoan Bring it 2018! #happynewyear #2018 #2017bestnine
